Brief History of AUDO

The Afghan Unique Development Organization (AUDO) was founded in March 2011 to address the critical need for sustainable social and economic development in Afghanistan, with a particular focus on empowering women and supporting marginalized communities. AUDO is committed to fostering empowerment, equality, and resilience throughout the nation.

Since its inception, AUDO has successfully implemented numerous projects across diverse sectors, including:

  • Social Development and Gender Equality: Conducting research, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives to empower women, promote gender equity, and foster social cohesion through training and workshops.
  • Vocational Education and Economic Empowerment: Supporting business development, vocational training, and employment opportunities to enhance livelihoods, especially for women.
  • Humanitarian Assistance and Emergency Aid: Providing vital support to displaced families, returnees, and vulnerable communities during crises.
  • Infrastructure Development: Constructing roads, bridges, schools, clinics, and shelters to improve living conditions and support returnees.
  • Education: Improving access to education for girls through school construction, literacy programs for adult women and girls, infrastructure upgrades, and public awareness campaigns.
  • Support for Grassroots Community Organizations: Strengthening local groups to drive sustainable development.
  • Public Awareness on Antenatal Care: Promoting maternal health through targeted campaigns in Bamiyan Province.
  • Environmental Protection: Advocating for sustainable resource management and addressing environmental challenges through awareness programs.

AUDO’s efforts have directly impacted thousands of beneficiaries across Afghanistan, with key projects implemented in Bamiyan, Daikundi, Kabul, Paktya, and Khost provinces. The organization has collaborated with renowned international donors and partners, including UNHCR, UN Women, UN-HABITAT, IRC, FHI 360, DAI Global, Counterpart International, Search for Common Ground, Geneva Call, and the Afghan Appeal Fund, among others.

Rooted in Bamiyan and strengthened by extensive grassroots experience, AUDO has become a trusted partner for driving social change. By working closely with government departments, civil society organizations, and local communities, AUDO continues to deliver impactful programs that address the country’s most pressing challenges.
